For many of us, hot weather can be unpleasant. For the elderly the consequences of hot weather can be far more serious as they are more vulnerable to the effects of heat than other groups in society. Extra care is needed to support them during the summer months. Britain's National Health Service (NHS) website has plenty of practical advice, which includes the use of fans to aid cooling.

We are pleased to introduce the Sleepbreeze personal cooler to you - a compact and energy efficient cooling product that is ideal for those living in retirement accommodation, or for that matter, in residential care.

 

In an ideal world it would be nice to throw the windows open and let the breeze cool the rooms in your care home or residential accommodation. However, if the air temperature outside is too high, then this is not advisable. Fear of crime may make this impractical for those with ground-floor retirement accommodation.

Of course everyone is familiar with pedestal and tower fans that can be used for cooling. These types of fan are quite bulky and not particularly practical if you live in a modest sized room within a care home. Likewise, retirement accommodation is not as spacious as your home used to be and the space availabe should rightly be used for more treasured possessions.

We'd like to introduce a new cooling product called the Sleepbreeze personal cooler. Using just 1/20th the electricity of a lightbulb it is certainly energy efficient, It is also compact, as when it is not in use it packs away into a bedside cabinet. So, why did we mention "bedside" cabinet specifically? Well, the Sleepbreeze is a little different from most cooling fans in that it is designed to cool you whilst you rest in, or on, your bed.

Simply lay it on your bed, lie down next to it and very soon you will start to feel cool due to the gentle, but highly effective, breeze. It is also versatile and could as easily be draped across the back of your sofa, hung next to a chair...
