Ok, now technically I did say that the next post on this page would be to announce that the online shop was open. But last night I bumped in to friend & neighbour Trent Holmes. Trent is one of those guys who is a great sounding board for projects like ours.

Some time ago he was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth and throat. The story of how this came about is in itself a salutory lesson for all of us. Trent started to feel pain in his tongue and mentioned it to his dentist. The pain was being caused by an agressive tumour and he wouldn't have felt a thing if it'd been 5mm away from where it developed and the result wouldn't have been good. Surgery was fairly immediate and this was followed by chemo and radio-therapy. Trent is now recovering and is now able to speak.

As a "thank you" to the staff at St Lukes Cancer Care Centre at the Royal Surrey hospital he and his Harley Davidson biker chums are doing a 1000 mile round Britain trip in a 24 hour event. Trent, we don't reckon it'll just be your mouth that's sore after that!

Trent's main wish is that more people learn something about this type of cancer and that you'll be more aware of the symptoms. And he says "Visit your dentist - it'll be him that spots it!

I believe the saying goes that you can't avoid "death and taxes". Well, technically if you live in the Boston area and fancy a tea party, then you can do some protesting about the latter.

But for consumers in the UK sadly VAT is unavoidable. And we're more used to seeing it swept up in the overall price. I guess people like seeing the total price up front. So, that's what we've done on all the main website pages.

We've left the prices the same on the "Sleepbreeze shop" page as non-UK customers will want to see the price they'll be paying. VAT gets added downstream for purchasers in the UK.

Just a short note to let anyone placing an order with us that we're away from our office for a few days - back on the 18th of August. Any orders placed with us next week will be dealt with promptly on our return.

We've brought our shipping costs down and we're passing it all on!

For our US-based customers we've brought the the shipping cost for single and multiple purchases down dramatically.

And dare we say it? With the US$ now 15% stronger against the £GBP compared with when we launched, there are savings to be had all round.

So, whilst we know the credit crunch is hurting, we thought we'd do out bit and pass on the savings we've made direct to our customers.

We found a way of bringing the postage price down and are pleased to pass this on to our customers.

We can't claim this will make you smile as much as, say seeing John Sergeant win Strictly Come Dancing, might.

I just wanted to put something on the blog to thank, publicly, all the staff on Wessex Ward at the North Hampshire hospital for the treatment and care they are giving my dad.

You've all made a difficult time for us a lot, lot easier and for the hope you've given us that dad will be coming home again to us soon.

These poor words will be woefully inadequate for the work that you do day-in-and-out, but we wanted to let you know "Thanks from the bottom of our hearts".
