You may have heard that during the daytime your body temperautre is higher than at night. A lot of the body's processes are linked to this daily temperature cycle, including falling asleep at night.

FACT: Before we can fall asleep our bodies need to cool down.

In summer this can be a problem. The nights are warmer and we don't loose heat as easily.

We cool down by air movement passing over our bodies and by sweat evaporating from our skin surface.

Cooling of the skin cools the blood flowing through our arteries and veins, and we soon start to cool down and feel more comfortable.

FACT: When there is no air movement we feel hot, we feel uncomfortable and we can't sleep.

In hot weather we can improve our chances of sleep by using a fan. This moves air across our skin, cools us down and allows us to fall asleep.

FACT: We don't need to cool the room we sleep in. We just need to cool ourselves!
