Sleepbreeze Ltd. was started by husband and wife team, Andy & Jill Buxton and is based in Alton, Hampshire, England.
Before starting the company Andy worked for many years as a life scientist advising the military on combating heat problems.
He is an internationally recognized expert in this field. His work has won acclaim in helping understand the interaction between people and the climates they live and work in. In 2000 Andy won an "Ergos" - the ergonomics equivalent of an Oscar - for his innovative work in this field. Andy has been on the international editorial team for the Japanese-based Journal of Human Environment System.
Andy's expertise has helped numerous organisations, including:
- Prodrive and the Subaru World Rally team;
- F1 teams;
- Mike Batt and the Wombles;
- BT Global Challenge;
- the Eden Project, and;
- the rail industry.
The sleepbreeze personal cooling product benefits from both Andy's in-depth scientific knowledge, a skilled design team working to bring his ideas into production, and by listening to our customers. The majority of suppliers to Sleepbreeze Ltd, including our design and manufacturing teams, are based in Hampshire, England.
Without Jill the project would never have got off the ground and definitely would never have come to fruition as the product you can buy today. Although she prefers to stay in the background, she came up with the sleepbreeze carry-pouch idea! She also sat up late on many evenings developing prototypes which were then taken forward into production.
Working together we have developed a truly unique and versatile cooling product suitable for backpackers and the military, children and adults alike.
